Services

The surgeons at University Orthopaedic Surgeons want to keep you active and free of pain. Our Center of Excellence helps to meet your unique needs through our custom designed Special Care Programs.

Trauma

When you are in an accident and need critical care in East Tennessee, we are the team that's called. Our team of surgeons offers Level 1 Trauma expertise: Dr. Eilerman, Dr. Holt, Dr. McCollum, Dr. Oros, Dr. R. Smith, and Dr. S. Smith.

Shoulder

After age 25, most shoulder problems are caused by the effect of repeated overhead motions for a long period of time. Weekend athletes and do-it-yourselfers are especially vulnerable to overuse problems in the shoulder. The leading causes of shoulder pain are bursitis, tendonitis, and irritated rotator cuff. Dr. Baddour has a special interest in treating and repairing rotator cuff and shoulder injuries.

Spine

Most people will experience some type of back pain in their lifetime. Pain is caused by an injury or by degeneration in the spine. Usually, these problems are resolved within a few days with over-the-counter medications and limiting activity. When back pain is severe or lasts for more than a week or two, a physician evaluation is recommended. We provide the highest quality and effective care for all spine problems. Each patient is carefully evaluated to develop an appropriate treatment plan for their specific needs. Dr. Jeffries has expertise providing excellence in treatment for spinal injuries.

Total Joint Replacements

After careful diagnosis of your joint problem, your doctor may recommend a total joint replacement. Hip replacement is recognized as a miracle of modern surgery. Most orthopedic experts consider it the best method of handling arthritis in the hip. Hip replacements have literally put hundreds of thousands of Americans back on their feet and allowed them to enjoy their golden years. Drs. Eilerman, Holt and McCollum have a special interest and focus of experience with total joint replacements including hip, knee and shoulder.

Hand

Our goal is to enable patients to return to normal functioning sooner and at improved levels. By developing an expertise for treatment of hand injuries or diseases of the bones, joints, nerves, tendons of the hand, congenital abnormalities, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, Dr. Richard Smith has a foundation of care especially focused on the hand.
