In February, Knoxville local Sonny Trotter sustained several trauma injuries following a bad car accident. Rushed to the emergency room, Sonny was soon met by the trauma team at UT Medical Center, including Dr. Kostas Triantafillou.
Sonny’s injuries included severe damage to his left arm, right hand, and neck. Dr. Triantafillou took care of Sonny, restoring function to his arm. Despite the severity of his injuries, Sonny was able to return to work after two and a half months.
“Dr. Kostas [Triantafillou] explains things so thoroughly for you,” says Sonny. “He did a great job for me, and I appreciate what he did. Today, I’m very, very pleased with where I’m at, especially considering where I started.”
Prior to his accident, Sonny served his country for 20 years in the US Coast Guard Reserve, and he has served his community as a regional commissioner and coach for youth soccer, including several years as the head coach for girls’ varsity soccer at Webb School of Knoxville.
Currently, Sonny serves in the healthcare field through pharmaceuticals and volunteers as an executive board member for the Teen Board of Knoxville. “Being in pharmaceuticals and coming from a medical family, I know a little something about the medical situation,” explains Sonny. “And I can say University Orthopedic Surgeons are lucky to have someone like Dr. Kostas [Triantafillou].”
Of the practice as a whole, Sonny says, “They’re top-notch in every way. I’ve been going into medical offices for over 39 years, and I know these folks care about people.”
Sonny says the entire group at University Orthopedic Surgeons is fantastic.
“From the first person you see to the last person you see; you can tell that they care about what they do. That includes working with physical therapy for my hand and my neck injury. Those physical therapists are real stars,” continues Sonny. “Anyone that would come here would be very, very pleased with their results, I can tell you that.”
