Primary Care Sports Medicine, Pediatrics

Dr. Chelsea Stanford is a primary care sports medicine specialist focused on nonsurgical solutions for bone, joint, and muscle injuries and conditions for adult and pediatric patients. Her expertise includes diagnosing and treating an array of sports injuries and other musculoskeletal needs, from sprains and strains to overuse injuries. Dr. Stanford is highly skilled in helping patients of all ages heal and return to their sport or daily activities using evidence-based treatments, including ultrasound-guided injections. She is committed to developing a treatment plan based on the patient's individual needs and delivering the highest possible level of care to keep them in motion.

A graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station, Dr. Stanford earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch. She then completed her pediatric residency training at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. After her residency training, Dr. Stanford underwent subspecialty training with a primary care sports medicine fellowship through The University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville.

Dr. Stanford has experience on the sidelines of high school and college football, college rugby, and college track and field. She also has extensive professional athlete coverage experience covering the Knoxville Ice Bears professional hockey team and One Knoxville Sporting Club. Finally, she has traveled internationally with USA Weightlifting to provide coverage at international competitions.

Originally from Texas, Dr. Stanford is thrilled to now call Knoxville home. She has fallen in love with the small-town feel and how family/dog-friendly it is. She has officially added UT orange to her wardrobe and is rooting on the Vols along with her Texas A&M Aggies.

Outside of work, Dr. Stanford enjoys spending time with her family. She has a daughter who keeps her on her toes and 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks who love how dog-friendly Knoxville is. After spending the last several years moving around while her husband was active duty Army, they are excited to be settling down in Knoxville for the long haul. In their free time, you will find them running marathons, hiking, and going on camping adventures.
