Dr. Andrew Harris is a dual fellowship-trained orthopaedic trauma and hand surgeon who joined University Orthopaedic Surgeons in 2020 with years of extensive training in the most advanced bone, joint, and muscle care. His expertise includes traumatic orthopaedic injuries, fracture repair, and comprehensive treatment of the hand, wrist, and elbow.

Born and raised in Knoxville, Dr. Harris received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry and cellular molecular biology from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, before earning his medical degree at The University of Tennessee Health Center in Memphis. He then went to Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical school in Providence, Rhode Island, for his orthopaedic surgery residency training as well as his additional training in orthopaedic trauma through his first fellowship. Dr. Harris later completed his second fellowship at The University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where he underwent intensive training in hand surgery.

In his practice, Dr. Harris aims to treat all his patients as if they were a family member. He believes that each patient is unique, and he is focused on providing individualized treatment plans depending on the patient's needs. Dr. Harris strives to provide the most up-to-date and evidence-based medicine, from microsurgery for the intricate structures of the hand to advanced care and reconstruction for severe and complex soft-tissue injuries.

Dr. Harris’s earliest interest in orthopaedics stemmed from seeing the similarities in tools and equipment of doctors and those he used working on classic automobile restoration at a young age. When he isn’t seeing patients, Dr. Harris still spends time restoring classic automobiles. He also enjoys rock climbing, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and basketball.

Our West Knoxville office has state-of-the-art in-office hand procedure rooms where Dr. Harris performs in-office finger cyst removal and trigger finger release.
